Chapter 210: Traces of a Legend
In a cafĂ© in Lilycove City, three men and one woman were sitting together. Terrance looked at the three people opposite him and asked, âCan you tell me the reason now?â
The trio had sought out Terrance at the Pokémon Contest, which made him curious.
He didnât think he had any connection with these three. The only time he had run into them, there was no interaction. Why were they looking for him? This really puzzled Terrance.
âMy name is Ishi⊠I guess you could say Iâm the leader of this Adventure Team,â said the young man with the video camera. âWeâre grateful you agreed to talk with us.â
âDonât worry, let me first introduce the purpose of our Adventure Team. As the name suggests, our main activity is âadventure.â Wherever something strange or dangerous happens, we rush over there and record everything with our equipment. This is our main activity at present.â
âSince our formation, the three of us have explored many places like Granite Cave, Island Cave, the Seafloor Cavern, Ancient Tomb, Wailmer Island, and Banana Slakoth Garden, capturing countless wondrous scenes⊠The last time we met at sea, we were heading to Mt. Chimney due to that big incident.â
As Terrance quietly listened to their explanation, he couldnât help but be surprised. These places didnât sound safe; these people are too gutsy.
âUnfortunately, we didnât gain much from Mt. Chimney incident, so we went back home early,â Ishi said.
âSo, what do you want from me?â
âTerrance, youâre a powerful Trainer, right?â Arvin asked.
âPowerful? Not quiteâŠâ Terrance smiled.
The trioâs expressions became serious. âWe looked for you because we want to collaborate with you. Weâre planning to explore a very dangerous place, and with our current strength, we canât go there alone. We need help from some strong Trainers.â
Terrance was taken aback. âThatâs your goal? Sorry, but Iâm not very interested.â
âDonât be so quick to refuse,â Maki interjected. âI believe youâll be interested once you hear where weâre going.â
âGo on,â Terrance said.
âRoute 111, have you heard of it?â Maki asked. âThatâs the official name, but we in Hoenn prefer to call it the Hoenn Desert; it is the largest desert region in Hoenn.â
âIâm familiar with it,â Terrance nodded. The Weather Institute had given him a Smooth Rock from that desert.
âOur goalâŠâ The trio lowered their heads and glanced around. ââŠis to record the battle videos of a Legendary PokĂ©mon.â
âLegendary PokĂ©mon?!â Terrance was shocked.
âYes, weâve found some ancient records in Island Cave and Ancient Tomb. After some research, weâve deduced that the Legendary PokĂ©mon, Regirock, resides in the Hoenn Desert!â
âMoreover, Registeel and Regice might also be in one of these three places, but there are too few ancient texts handed down, and we canât decipher too much. We could only understand a bit about the Hoenn Desert.â
âAre you serious?â Terrance asked solemnly.
Legendary Pokémon are not necessarily very powerful, but the most powerful Pokémon⊠are definitely Legendary Pokémon.
There are an extremely small number of Legendary Pokémon that have developed terrifying strength due to their long lifespans. These ancient beings are simply not something humans can contend with.
âThis is very dangerous,â Terrance said. âThe only way humans can contend against Legendary PokĂ©mon is through technology. From your attitude, it seems you plan to challenge Regirock with just Trainers?â
âThatâs right,â the trio said.
âDonât worry. Only a few Legendary PokĂ©mon are exceptionally powerful. Many arenât as strong as an ace PokĂ©mon of an excellent Trainer.â
âA video recently surfaced showing a Trainer repelling a Zapdos. That Trainer wasnât even an Elite Four member, Champion, or Gym Leader. Do you understand the sensation it caused? So, after learning about Regirock, we came up with this idea,â Maki said. âLegendary PokĂ©mon seem mysterious only because weâve encountered so few of them.â
Terrance pondered, âYouâre betting that this Regirock isnât an ancient being, but since itâs mentioned in the ancient texts, its strength might not be as promising.â
Arvin added, âThatâs why weâre seeking strong Trainers. The three of us arenât enough. If you join and we record the battle, all participating Trainers will gain fame.â
âYou might even earn a âtitleâ from some enthusiastic peopleâŠâ
âAre you not tempted?â
Terrance hesitated, tapping his fingers on the table. âI am, but not for the âtitle.â Iâm more interested in the Legendary PokĂ©mon.â
âIâve never seen a living Legendary PokĂ©mon. Are you sure it exists? AndâŠhow many Trainers have you invited?â
Ishi replied, âIncluding you, weâve invited three Trainers.â
âHow do you gauge a Trainerâs strength?â Terrance asked.
Since he was tempted, Terrance wanted to understand the situation first.
âAura, the aura of their PokĂ©mon. We saw your Altaria in the waters near Slateport City. Its aura is even fiercer than the ace Flygon we have. So you qualify, and we decided to invite you.â
âRunning into you again in Lilycove City was quite a surprise.â
âWeâve seen the PokĂ©mon of the other two Trainers. Their auras are no weaker than the ace PokĂ©mon we captured together from the Hoenn Desert,â Ishi said.
âFour Altaria-level PokĂ©mon, huh,â Terrance thought. If they combined their strength, unless the Legendary PokĂ©mon was terrifyingly powerful, there was a fighting chance.
âMost importantly⊠weâve also prepared escape routes and tools, ensuring this operation is absolutely safe,â Maki added.
Terrance nodded. âSince youâve put it this way, I have no reason to refuse. Where are the other two Trainers?â
Ishi said, âTheyâre in other places. It took us a month just to find them. Having them follow us wouldnât be appropriate. Now that weâve reached the initially planned number, we can contact them and set off.â
