Chapter 2643
Lin Mu had been observing the situation from the start, his expression calm yet tinged with surprise.
He hadnât expected such brazen behavior in a supposedly peaceful place like Ram Orchard City. When he saw the men attack Dou Qi and Doumen, his patience snapped.
Enough was enough.

"Who the hell are you?" Teng Yi growled, glaring at Lin Mu.
He couldnât sense any significant immortal qi fluctuations from Lin Mu, which made him appear weak. But the ease with which Lin Mu had intervened gave Teng Yi pause.
"Let her go," Lin Mu stated calmly, his voice firm.
"And who do you think you are to order me around? Do you even know who I am? I AM CHIJI OU!" the man roared, his spittle flying in rage.
Lin Muâs frown deepened as he gripped Chiji Ouâs hand, which was clutching Dou Qiâs arm, and pried it loose with minimal effort.
Chiji Ouâs eyes widened in shock. It felt as though an immense force had been appliedâlike a crowbar splitting a paper-thin door. No matter how much he resisted, his grip broke instantly, and Dou Qi was freed.
The young woman looked at Lin Mu in disbelief, her eyes glistening with gratitude.
"You dare interfere!?" Teng Yi snarled, stepping forward. "Which clan are you from? State your affiliation!"
"Iâm not from any clan," Lin Mu replied evenly.
"Unaffiliated?" Teng Yi sneered. "A mere itinerant cultivator dares to meddle with Young Master Chiji Ou? Laughable!" Confidence surged in Teng Yiâs voice as he assumed Lin Mu had no backing.
Lin Mu simply raised an eyebrow at Teng Yi, his expression unreadable.
"Whatâs your connection to this girl?" Chiji Ou asked, his tone turning derisive. "Is she your lover? Even if she is, hand her over. Iâve taken a liking to her. Sheâll be my bed warmer tonight."
"Never!"
A hoarse shout came from behind.
Doumen staggered toward them, his steps unsteady. Blood streamed from a large wound on his chest, inflicted by the earlier water whip. His clothes were torn, and scratches covered his arms. Blood trickled from the corners of his mouth, evidence of internal injuries.
"Grandfather!" Dou Qi cried, rushing to his side.
Tears streaked her face as she knelt to support him, her hands trembling.
"Here," Lin Mu said, tossing a small pill to Dou Qi. "Give this to him. Itâll help."
Dou Qi caught the pill and hesitated for a moment, but the gravity of the situation left no room for doubt. Lin Mu had been a kind and reliable presence in their shop over the past week. She quickly helped her grandfather consume the pill.
The effects were immediate.
Doumenâs bleeding stopped as a wave of vitality coursed through his body. His wounds began to close, starting with the smaller scratches and then the large gash on his chest. Even the internal injuries were healing, and the pain that wracked his body vanished.
Moments later, Doumen stood straighter, his strength renewed. His qi wasnât just replenishedâit had grown noticeably stronger.
"This⊠this pillâŠ" Doumen murmured, his voice filled with awe. He hadnât expected such powerful healing effects from what he assumed was a low-grade pill.
"A high-tier healing pill?!" Teng Yi blurted out, his expression a mix of surprise and envy. "You wasted such a treasure on him?"
"Wasted?" Lin Muâs eyes narrowed. "Itâs called helping someone in need."
Teng Yi bristled at the comment but stepped back as Chiji Ou interjected, his expression twisted in anger.
"You think a bit of strength and a fancy pill make you untouchable?" Chiji Ou sneered. "Youâll regret this insolence. Iâll make you pay!"
Raising his hand, Chiji Ou conjured a whip of water once more, its sinuous form snapping toward Lin Mu like a serpent.
CRACK!
Lin Mu moved swiftly, his hand cutting through the air like a blade. The whip disintegrated on impact, water splashing harmlessly to the ground.
Chiji Ouâs jaw dropped.
"YouâŠ!" he sputtered. "Do you have any idea who youâre dealing with? Iâm from the River Bending Axe Sect!"
"Is that supposed to mean something?" Lin Mu asked, his voice as calm as ever.
"The River Bending Axe Sect?!" Dou Qi and Doumen gasped in unison.
Doumen quickly stepped closer to Lin Mu, whispering urgently. "Sir, theyâre one of the ruling sects of the area. Theyâre part of the City Council!"
Lin Muâs brows furrowed. He had read about the sect in the books at the shopâit was known as an orthodox sect with a reputation for maintaining peace.
âWhy is one of their members acting like this?â Lin Mu wondered, his confusion deepening.
"Still acting smug, are you?" Teng Yi sneered. "Weâre giving you one last chance: hand over the girl, or suffer the consequences."
"No." Lin Muâs reply was curt and absolute.
"Youâll regret this!" Chiji Ou bellowed, his aura flaring.
He lunged forward, conjuring another whip of water, but this time infused with more power. The whip crackled as it lashed toward Lin Mu, its force capable of splitting stone.
Lin Mu sidestepped effortlessly, his hand flicking upward to intercept the whip.
BOOM!
The whip shattered in a violent explosion of water. Chiji Ou stumbled back, clutching his wrist in pain, his confidence shaken.
"You! You dare! Iâll kill you and feed you to the beasts!" Chiji Ou lost his composure and rushed towards Lin Mu.
This time he used both his hands, thick water whips extending from them and encircling Lin Mu.
Seeing them block his path, Lin Mu simply disappeared.
SPLAT
"Where did he go?" but instead of seeing Lin Mu get split in half, all Chiji Ou saw was his two whips colliding against each other.
"Have you lost your sense?" Lin Mu spoke from above. "Be civilized and leave this place." He stated firmly, his gaze sharpening.
"Humph! You dare order a disciple of the River Bending Axe Sect in OUR CITY!? We rule this place and I declare that you shall not live from today!" Chiji Ou declared with full confidence.
